Haskell Elementary SchoolHaskell Elementary School is located in the center of our small community near the
picturesque Wanaque Reservoir in northern New Jersey. Our kindergarten through
eighth grade school consists of nearly 420 students and prides itself on being a long
established hub of the community supporting a wide variety of programs for students
and town members.
Throughout the 2007-2008 school year, our school was a bustle of activity as
referendum supported construction made many needed repairs to our building. We
now boast beautiful new windows, an updated HVAC system, new classroom lighting
and a host of other work that was long overdue. In addition to the repair work, we will
be making technological improvements that will include the addition of Smartboards in
every classroom.
Professional development continues to be an area of focus in our school. Staff
members have availed themselves of a wide variety of workshops through our
Professional Development Academy where turnkey training plays a significant role.
Articulation with neighboring districts was enhanced this year by the creation of a Tridistrict
Professional Development Day held in February. Staff members from the
Wanaque, Ringwood, and Lakeland High School Districts came together to share ideas
and concerns in an effort to ensure that our students receive a seamless education
from kindergarten through twelfth- grade. Curriculum committees for math, social
studies, technology, art, and gifted and talented have worked numerous hours writing
new standards-based curriculum designed to meet the strengths and needs of our
students. As work on our curriculum is completed, teachers embrace the new
strategies and correlation with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards
that have been integrated into each content area.
Because of the support of our parents, Board of Education, and community, the staff
at Haskell Elementary School is able to remain vigilant in our efforts to provide our
students with a positive learning environment devoted to addressing the academic,
social, and emotional needs of our students.Phone:973-835-8200 -

Lakeland RegionalLRHS is an outstanding comprehensive high school which provides 9th – 12th grade students of Haskell, Ringwood and Wanaque the opportunity and the tools for an excellent secondary education.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of our school. Let’s celebrate the fact that Lakeland has grown from a one-building structure to a two-building school that is home for over 1200 students every day. Add to that a highly-qualified, caring staff, and the school becomes a true learning community. Our teachers and staff dedicate their time each and every day to assist our students in reaching academic success. During the 2008 – 2009 school year, we will be working with Jostens on the implementation of the Renaissance Program to identify and acknowledge achievements by students and staff.
LRHS is honored to be named as a Star School by the New Jersey Department of Education along with receiving three Department of Education Best Practices Awards for creative and innovative programs. Over the past few years Lakeland has become an outstanding technological high school. This includes computers in each classroom for teachers’ and students’ use, nine computer labs, Smart Boards, and projection systems to enhance teaching strategies and to accommodate students’ learning styles. This technology has prompted us to add new courses to our curriculum including: Pre Engineering, Robotics, Multimedia Presentations, The Business Practice Firm, and Computer Science. All of our courses will help prepare students for a highly competitive global society.
Our rich academic curriculum and electives are just the beginning of all that LRHS has to offer. All students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities along with our outstanding athletics program. The co-curricular programs support our curriculum with thirty-nine clubs focusing on the arts, science, literature, business, cultural and environmental issues. Lakeland’s athletic program offers twenty-seven varsity sports throughout the school year and continues to grow to meet the needs of the community. Participation in these activities helps to develop strong character and to develop time-management skills for life beyond high school. The entire Lakeland community is always invited to join us at athletic events or theatre programs as well as any of our fundraising activities. School and community spirit is high, and we are proud of our colors - red and gray.
As Principal I will maintain an open-door policy so that everyone in the Lakeland community will feel comfortable sharing thoughts and concerns. I invite you to visit our website often to keep updated on exciting Lakeland news and happenings.
In closing I would like to share this quote from Peter Senge, “All human beings are born with unique gifts. The healthy functioning of our community depends on its capacity to develop each gift.” Please keep in mind, RESPECT for yourselves and others, along with ongoing COMMUNICATION, will help in developing academic success and character.
Sincerely,
Anthony Riscica,
Principal Lakeland Regional High SchoolPhone:973-835-1900
